Preparations for the event of the century in Planica

From February 21 to March 5, 2023, Planica will host the largest sports event in the history of the Republic of Slovenia. Tickets for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships are already available, and work in all organizational areas is progressing rapidly.
One of the important areas is the traffic regime in the wider area of the event site. Of course, this also includes parking spaces for cars, buses and other vehicles. It is important to note that the event will be organized sustainably and only a limited number of vehicles of the competition teams and broadcasters will have access to the valley. All visitors will enter the valley on foot via the entry point at the roundabout in Rateče. It is a wonderful walk of a more than a kilometre, during which you will be able to experience the beauty of this wonderful glacial valley, which is famous all over the world.
In the nearby towns of Rateče, Podkoren and Kranjska Gora, we were therefore forced to find suitable solutions for additional temporary parking spaces. At the same time, we would like to thank the municipality of Kranjska Gora and especially all the landowners with whom we reached an agreement on the use of their meadow areas. Of course, given the sustainability of the event, we will restore the original condition on all such surfaces after the end of the winter season.
We are sure that we will prepare everything necessary for the smooth running of this historic event, while always keeping the environment in mind for our descendants.
